Modern War Poetry

The Poems

Enemy in Our Sights

A coward's attempts
To subdue our nation
Have ignited our contempt
Inflamed our population

In less than a couple of hours
We lost the security of home
When terror struck the towers
In the land where freedom roams

We never will back down
We won't succumb to fear
We will always be around
To defend what we hold dear

This single act of malice
Committed on our soil
Has made our feelings callous
It's brought our blood to boil

I can only guarantee
They will be brought to justice
The entire world will see
You can take my word on this

America will fight
In defense of her children's rights
In remembrance of those flights
WE HAVE OUR ENEMY IN OUR SIGHTS
